"Marza"

My real name is Mari Laukkonen, born in Helsinki (1983). I painted first time already before school, but in 8th grade and high school I got more interested in visual arts. After high school I had twenty years break from the hobby, but I found my old watercolors (from the 4th grade) in my closet in 2021 and got excited again.

I started painting with watercolors but changed quite quickly to gouache for the stronger colors. I haven't taken any classes so my technique is based on what I learned at school and personal experiments. I do my paintings at home in Vantaa on the kitchen table, usually with the help of my cats.

For the first time some of my paintings are publicly visible in Sininen Kettu cafeteria (Klaukkalantie 59, 01800 Klaukkala) from 10.7.2023 onwards. I am also planning a wider exhibition with my 40th birthday party in October 2023.
